1. It’s Pink!

You know The Colony was not always pink, in 2014 a mega refurbishment was done. At a whopping $9 million dollars the Hotel was transformed inside and out and painted PINK! Who doesn’t love a little pink?! Having a beautiful pink hotel as a backdrop for wedding photos allows for a soft and flirty romance without taking away from the couple.

2. Wedding ceremony location

Sometimes having a wedding ceremony at a hotel can present a few challenges, however, The Colony offers a beautiful private space outside called the East Garden. It features a gorgeous entrance with two white iron gates, synthetic grass (which makes all the ladies happy), and a stunning wall of water. As a wedding photographer, it’s so nice to have a space like this to use with the couple before, during, and after the wedding ceremony. It allows the couple to really take in the moments without distractions from hotel guests.

3. Wedding reception

The Coral Ballroom! Let me start by saying I love everything. The NATURAL LIGHT that floods this ballroom is breathtaking, it fills the room making it the most beautiful ballroom for pictures. The floors are a neutral SOLID color, white walls, light-blue hues on the ceilings with gorgeous chandeliers. The ballroom is detached from the hotel and has its own entrance and valet which I often use for bride and groom portraits to help the couple escape the Florida sun.

4. The Colony Staff

When you see a beautiful high-end hotel like The Colony, you may already be expecting good service and guest experience, but if you have not yet experienced the service let me tell you it’s beyond great! As a wedding vendor, I get to see the behind the scenes, and boy could I tell you some funny stories from over the years as a wedding photographer. When it comes to The Colony they are exceptional throughout the entire day. I have seen staff go out of their way to serve the couple and the families with true hospitality. The staff works so HARD to make sure every little detail is just right and the food is perfect. The Colony also feeds the vendors really yummy food and that’s a big bonus in my book!

5. Weather

Weather in Sunny Florida! Florida is one of the top US wedding destinations. Thousands of couples plan their dream destination wedding here without really knowing how our beautiful state can get so hot. So I love that The Colony has chic indoor spaces for couples to have wedding portraits taken while also catching some cold AC.
